HAWKS  FOR  HOPE ~ SOAR TOWARDS A CURE

Relay for Life is a community event to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.  Cobb County Relay for Life will be May 7 at Jim Miller Park in Marietta.  Students who choose to participate should be accompanied by an adult.  LMS teachers and staff cannot provide supervision or transportation.  The Lovinggood tent will be taken down at 11:00 PM on Friday, May 7.  Please join us in this beautiful tribute of remembrance and celebration of life!

School Improvement Plan

The School Improvement Plan Survey (SIP) is now available online for parents to complete. Simply print the form, complete it, then bring it to school when your child has his/her conference. The staff of Lovinggood Middle School is dedicated to promoting an environment that fosters an alliance among staff, students, parents, and community.   Each one of us is committed to educating and encouraging intellectually reflective adolescents en route to a lifetime of meaningful work.

 Beliefs that guide us:

  • All students must be given the opportunity to develop their individual gifts.
  • Schools must set high academic and social expectations.
  • Schools must have challenging learning environments which provide strategies and skills to develop independent thinking and lifelong learning.
  • Teachers must be knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and passionate about their subject matter and student achievement.
  • Schools must provide an emotionally and physically safe environment for all students to achieve their maximum potential.
  • Parents, teachers, and students must work together to reinforce a positive climate.

REMINDER

Lovinggood has the need – the need to exceed!

CRCT Prep Sessions will be begin on  Monday,  2/1/10.

We will be meeting every Monday and Tuesday thru 4/13/10, from 4:30 until 5:30 p.m.  We expect students to come on the days for which they registered.  It is very important that you make every effort to attend regularly. The success of this program is up to each individual. Some things to remember:

  • Bring a snack
  • Have your ride here at 5:30 p.m.
  • Be positive
  • Work to your potential!

NOTE - The State of Georgia has recently added additional immunization requirements for Kindergarten and 6th grade students.

To help ensure that the enrollment process for your child goes as smoothly as possible, please read carefully the following guidelines:

What Will The School Need To Enroll My Child?
1. An official copy of the student's Social Security card/number (A parent or guardian who objects to the incorporation of the social security number into the school records of a child may have the requirement waived by signing a statement objecting to the requirement .

2. Immunization/Health Screening Requirements:
Georgia law requires that each student present the following forms prior to being enrolled:

A. Georgia Department of Human Resources Form 3231 "Certificate of Immunization" showing that the child has adequate protection against varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough), tetanus (lockjaw), polio, measles, rubella (German measles) and mumps.

Further guidelines:
        · The Certificate of Immunization (Form 3231) must be signed by a physician licensed under the laws of Georgia OR by a qualified employee of a county health department.
        · A child who cannot be immunized because of a medical disability can be given a special certificate by a licensed physician or a county health department. If a child is not immunized for religious reasons, an exemption waiver must be obtained from the School District.
        · Immunization Requirements for students entering sixth grade:


Students entering the sixth grade must have a certificate showing proof of two measles, two mumps and rubella vaccinations administered since the first birthday. Sixth graders must also have a certificate for 2 varicella (chicken pox) vaccinations or history of disease or blood test and date by the health care provider.
