Letter to the Pope Community

I wanted to share what Jeff and Christy’s wishes were in relation to carrying on the fight:

This is in lieu of flowers and for those that are so compelled to donate. Absolutely no expectations.

Georgia Parent Survey

All schools in Georgia participate in School Climate Surveys each school year.  This suite of surveys includes student surveys, staff surveys, and parent surveys which are combined together to calculate Pope High School's Climate Star Rating on the state of Georgia’s College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI).

The Georgia Parent Survey is modeled after the student survey and contains 24 questions. Parents may complete the survey using their personal computer, smartphones or tablet.  Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis.  The URL address for the Georgia Parent Survey is posted below.

Pope Robotics Success

Congratulations to the Pope Robotics Team for making it all the way to the Semi-finals in the VEX Competition this past Saturday at Ola High School in McDonough, Georgia.  This was a state qualifying event and the Pope team missed going to finals by only 1 point with a score of 80 to 81.  This is the best score ever for the Pope Robotics Team!!

This year’s yearbook will include senior quotes for the first time. The quotes will be located right under each student’s senior portrait. Submit your senior quotes to www.tinyurl.com/popeseniorquotes. All submissions are due November 12. Quote anyone – someone who inspires you – your family, friends, a writer or famous figure, or even yourself. Make sure you cite the person you are quoting; make sure it is school appropriate; and make it less than 25 words. If you have any questions please see Ms. Bowen room 303.

Thanks-for-Giving Drive

The Octagon, Interact, and NHS clubs along with the Media Center are hosting the annual Thanks-for-Giving Food Drive for the Cobb Center for Family Resources. This is the 30th anniversary of the Thanks-for-Giving program, which gives families here in Cobb all the makings of a traditional Thanksgiving meal to take home and prepare with their families. We are also collecting extra food items that will last the families throughout the holiday week.

Every fall, thousands of families struggle to keep food on the table. Thanksgiving week can be even more financially stressful when students are home from school for more than just the holiday meal.

Lastly, this is a competition for local schools. Last year, Pope won our division with a collection of over 2000 food items and over $200 in gift cards! I have set up a competition between my classes (for homemade cookies). Please have students bring donations to room 212.

Let’s make this year’s donation bigger than last year’s! And WIN! Go Hounds! Click here for more details...

Peer Tutoring Club

This is a peer tutoring club open to any Pope student.  Tutors have been selected based on academic performance, character, and communication abilities. Students who request tutoring(tutees) will sign up using an online form. The tutoring committee will match these students with tutors and the tutor will contact the tutee with a date/time for the tutoring session (to take place at Pope). Currently, all tutoring sessions are one-on-one and will take place in the Media Center before or after school, during AO, or during X-Block. Tutors and tutees will sign a tutoring completion sheet at the end of each session.  There are also opportunities to do tutoring once a week at Hightower Trail Middle School. Please see Mrs. Zonin in the Media Center if you have any questions. Click here to go to website...(this will be a permanent link on left under quick links)
