Cheatham Hill Names
New Teacher of the Year 2013-14!!!

Mrs.
Megan Huss, 5th grade teacher, was recently named
Teacher of the Year and will represent our school in
the upcoming district-wide search for CCSD Teacher of the Year. Mrs.
Huss began teaching Kindergarten at Cheatham Hill in 2002 and later
moved up to 5th grade. She is a '96 graduate of Auburn University and a
2007 Early Childhood Education graduate of KSU. In 2012, she earned her
Specialist's Degree in Technology Integration and at the same time took
on a pilot program implementing iPads (one-to-one) in the classroom. Her
classroom has served as a model for 21st Century Learning not only for our school community, but
for many other schools in the district.
Megan and her husband, Stephen, are the parents of two children. Maggie
a 9th grader at Hillgrove, and Matthew, a 6th grader at Lovinggood, both
attended Cheatham Hill from Kindergarten through 5th grade.
Mrs. Kay Rigby, 1st grade teacher, was
named our runner-up.
She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Samford University and a
Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from West Georgia College. She has been teaching for 24 years with 16 of those
years being at Cheatham Hill. She has taught a variety of grades - 1st,
2nd, and 3rd grades as well as EIP.
Kay and her husband, Glenn, are
parents of two children, Luke, age 14, and Anna, age 12.

Effective September 7, 2010,
students will not
be permitted to return to classrooms after 2:45 pm to retrieve
forgotten items such as homework, lunch boxes, book bags, etc.
Teachers may leave the campus at 2:45 pm, therefore sending students
to rooms without someone present is a concern for our staff and for
the security of our students. Please be advised that ASP
workers and custodians will no longer be able to unlock classrooms
for parents or students. Until students become acclimated
to this procedure, we will provide daily reminders on the afternoon
announcements.
