The New Teacher Institute was developed to provide support to all teachers new to the Cobb County School District. The Institute is held for four consecutive days in the summer. The purpose of the Institute is to provide a focus on the effective teaching standards in the areas of the classroom environment, planning and preparation, instruction and professional responsibilities as reflected in the Georgia CLASS Keys. You will receive valuable resources and support to make your teaching experience successful for you and your students. The August 2nd session is highly recommended and a $100 stipend will be paid to participants. The August 3-5 sessions are required and part of the teaching contract. Participants will also receive 3 Professional Learning Units of credit for completion of all four days.

All new teachers should arrive at McClure Middle School by 8:00 for an opening session. Elementary teachers will transition to Bullard Elementary School which shares a parking lot with McClure after the opening session. Dress for the Institute is business casual.

If you are a specialist teacher, (Special Education, Art, Music, PE, ESOL, etc.), please choose a specific grade level for registration.
