The Coaching Endorsement Program is designed to provide
experienced educators with the special knowledge, skills,
attitudes and behaviors needed to support both experienced and
novice educators in the continued enhancement of high
performance teaching, learning, and leading.
REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must successfully complete the
following two courses to earn the Coaching Endorsement:
Ø
Course
#1, A Foundation for Performance-Based Coaching:
A five-day
class held in the summer at the Martha J. Moore Center
provides the foundation curriculum. (4 PLUs)
Class A:
June 18-22, or
Class B: June 25-29
Ø
Course
#2, Performance-Based Coaching in Action:
A
year-long
practicum, that
provides a
field experience from August through May,
includes site-based one-on-one coaching and facilitation
of group collaboration. Participants
attend
class meetings one evening
a month at the Martha J. Moore Center, and participate in online
learning activities. (6 PLUs)
CANDIDATES MUST:
Be a
current Cobb County employee
Hold a clear, renewable certificate
Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in education
Have no other current commitments to graduate school,
endorsement programs, or academies
Possess basic competencies in oral and written communication and
technology skills
NOTE: Upon successful completion
of the program, the Coaching Endorsement is added to the candidate's certificate, however the endorsement does not
guarantee consideration for other employment opportunities.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
Ø
Demonstrates outstanding instructional and classroom management
skills
Ø
Effectively plans and implements best practice strategies to
produce desired results
Ø
Conveys verbally/non-verbally an enthusiasm for teaching and
learning
Ø
Models professional and ethical attitudes and behaviors
Ø
Shows genuine interest in helping others and a willingness to
spend the time required
Ø
Is willing to be open to the diverse perspectives and ideas of
others
Ø
Has the ability to be confident, decisive, sensitive, and
flexible while working with others
Ø
Is energetic, enthusiastic, and positive toward him/herself and
others
Ø
Is able to clearly and effectively communicate thoughts and
knowledge about educational practices to others
Ø
Understands the role of coaching to advance teacher
effectiveness and improve student learning
Seeks and accepts a leadership role and other responsibilities
in the school and/or district
