2011-12 CCSD Leadership Academies 

Online registration will open on March 15, 2011
and close at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2011.

The application and recommendation forms for the Cobb County School District (CCSD) Leadership Academies are now online. Interested CCSD employees may complete the online application by clicking on the link provided at the end of this message. In addition to the online application, applicants must submit a résumé to the Leadership Management Department, Human Resources and give the recommendation form to their principal, who will return it directly to Leadership Management.

Applicants must have the support of their current principal and area assistant superintendent or central office director/supervisor.  All application materials are due in the Leadership Management Department of Human Resources no later than Thursday, March 31, 2011.  

There are two Cobb County School District Leadership Academies.  


Leadership Academy for Prospective Administrators

GOAL:
a) Application of effective behaviors and practices that support proficiency in all of the Georgia School Keys of Excellence
b) Assessments leading to individual professional growth goals
c) Performance-based assignments connected to individual professional growth goals
d) Performance-based assignments leading to growth in administrator competencies; analysis and utilization of data for maximizing student achievement, standards-based instruction, relationship development, leading change, understanding effective school operations systems

MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY AT TIME OF APPLICATION:
1. Master’s Degree
2. Must currently hold a valid Georgia Educational L-5 certificate or higher; or must currently hold an NL-5 certificate
3. Minimum of three (3) years successful educational experience

MEETING DATES:
Participants will meet five (5) full days and four (4) evening sessions during the school year.


Leadership Academy for Aspiring Principals

GOAL:
a) Advanced application of effective behaviors and practices that support proficiency in all of the Georgia School Keys of Excellence
b)Assessments utilizing the Georgia Leader Keys Performance Appraisal System leading to individual professional growth goals
c) Performance-based assignments connected to individual professional growth goals
d) Performance-based assignments leading to growth in principal competencies; situational appraisal, decision analysis, analysis and utilization of data for maximizing student achievement, standards-based instruction, relationship development, leading change, effective school operations

MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY AT TIME OF APPLICATION:
1.  Valid Georgia Educational Leadership Certificate
2.  Minimum of three (3) years successful experience in school administration

MEETING DATES:
Participants will meet seven (7) days during the school year.

Application Process:

  • Complete the Cobb County School District Leadership Academy application online.
  • Send résumé to: Leadership Management, Human Resources, 514 Glover Street, Marietta, GA 30060 or email to lee.morson@cobbk12.org
  • Give the Recommendation Form to your principal. Principal will complete and return the form directly to Leadership Management.

Summary:
Application materials (application, résumé and recommendation form) must be received in Human Resources, Leadership Management office no later than Thursday, March 31, 2011.

Candidates will be notified of their selection or non-selection prior to the 2011-12 school year. Applicants must understand that academy selection is competitive and academy completion does not guarantee a principalship opportunity.
